District to Host DL Dinner and Resource Fair

The Diverse Learners Department will be hosting a Diverse Learners Dinner and Resource Fair on Thursday, October 12 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Welcome Center, 742 W. Greenwood Avenue. Dinner will be provided for families who RSVP by October 5. 


During the event, a variety of organizations will be on hand to help educate DL parents on a variety of resources, services, topics and programs relating to:
-
Assistive technology - Transportation - Employment - Special recreation - Medical care, rehabilitative services and medical care coordination  - Residential services, adult basic education, life skills and independent living - Support for immigrant families - Legal services  - Counseling


Parents may RSVP by contacting  Parent and Community Partnership Coordinator Tim Kirschner in advance at 224-303-3621 or [email protected]. Parents should enter through the Chestnut Street doors across from the parking lot. Spanish interpretation will be provided. 


Organizations present for the fair include PACE Bus, Waukegan Public Library, the Illinois Respite Coalition, Goodwill Great Lakes and the Illinois Department of Rehabilitation Services.
