Waukegan Community Unit School District # 60 was recently recognized with three communication awards as part of the National School Public Relations Association’s annual Publications and Digital Media awards.

NSPRA recognized District 60 with two video awards and one social media campaign award. Awarded recipients were announced in June and officially recognized last week during the   NSPRA 2023 National Seminar in St. Louis.

The video awards were in recognition of the District's weekly 60 in Sixty video series, which highlights news and events occurring in Waukegan Public Schools. A second video honor was awarded to a Spotlight on 60 video, which highlighted a student-led tutoring partnership between students at Oakdale Elementary School and Waukegan High School.

In the social media category, the District was recognized for its Foreman Frankie campaign. Foreman Frankie is a miniature construction worker who visits ongoing construction projects to showcase improvements occurring around Waukegan schools.

Entries are judged on their overall excellence as well as quality as compared to other entries in the category. The top award in each category is the Award of Excellence. Awards of Merit and Honorable Mentions are also given in each category. NSPRA uses experienced, award-winning professionals to evaluate entries.
