Action Items

The Board of Education voted to approve asphalt and concrete repairs at Carman-Buckner Elementary School to be completed by Happ Builders in the amount of $ 55,650.

The Board of Education voted to approve the consulting agreement with Dr. Joseph Fischer's Education Services (Artcore Education Services LLC) in the amount of $219,832 to support the work of the ARTCORE Grant. The Academics Support and Programs (ASAP) Team is requesting approval of a consulting agreement with Dr. Joseph Fischer's Education Services (Artcore Education Services LLC), formerly known as America Baila: Folkdance Company of Chicago,  to service the ARTCORE Grant.  The Board approved the acceptance of the ARTCORE Grant on 10/23/2018.  These are required annual agreements with our partners who are assisting with the implementation of the grant in WPS60 and are paid using grant funds. 

The Board of Education voted to approve the consulting agreement with Urban Gateways in the amount of $27,200 to support the work of the ARTCORE Grant.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of STEM materials to support the work of the EIR Grant for Q3 and Q4 in the amount of $25,654.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of new audio sound systems for the gymnasiums and Room 201 at Waukegan High School - Washington Campus, from Modern Media Tech LLC. in the amount of $48,800. 

The Board of Education voted to renew the contract with the Suburban School Cooperative Insurance Program (SSCIP) for the District’s general liability, property, excess property, school board liability and boiler and machinery insurance for the 2022 calendar year in the amount of $813,586. 

The Board of Education voted to approve and implement the Risk Management Plan resulting in allowable costs being charged to the Tort Fund.

The Board of Education voted to renew the TMobile WiFi students' hotspot service contract for one year at a cost of $406,859.

The Board of Education voted to approve the implementation of contract services of Deloitte Tax LLP to implement the Contract Management System that will be integrated with DocuSign. The cost is $26,000, which was included in the DocuSign project that was approved by the Board Of Education on September 28, 2021.

The Board of Education voted to approve, Palo Alto Firewall Google Drive/Aperture License Renewal. Total cost of $38,000.00 for one year.

The Board of Education voted to approve the renewal of the Smartsheet license for one year. The cost is $32,200. Smartsheet is the project management tool that is used in the district to monitor and manage projects. 

The Board of Education voted to approve payment for work completed in support of operations and added network ports at a total of $127,247.

The Board of Education voted to accept the low responsible and responsive bids from Northbrook-based FE Moran Inc. for HVAC upgrades (base and alternates) at Washington, Greenwood and Whiter Elementary for a construction cost of $5,086,000, and from Alsip-based Amber Mechanical Contractors, for a construction cost of $1,433,000. Their proposals total $6,519,000. Added to the construction costs is a consultant fee of $521,520payable to Chicago-based STR Partners LLC and the advertisement cost of $87.42, for a total project budget approval of $7,692,507.

The Board of Education voted to approve the payment to Hayes Mechanical for work they performed at Waukegan High School - Washington Campus, to provide HVAC to the men's locker room and the team room at a cost of $58,698.

The Board of Education voted to approve the contract between ELB US Inc. and WPSD60 for the purchase of the HALO Smart Sensor Detectors. The quoted total of the contract is $40,983.00. The installation will be provided by Computer Power Systems at a quoted cost of $25,318. The total proposed cost is $66,301. Halo Smart Sensors are used to detect environmental changes in privacy-sensitive areas and will send alerts to safety personnel. Halo will be installed inside of Washington Campus student restrooms in order to detect and deter vaping. Halo also detects noise fluctuation and analyzes room occupancy through light detection and alerts safety staff to possible disturbances in student occupied restrooms.  If these sensors function as anticipated, their use will be expanded at other locations.  

The Board of Education voted to ratify approval of the installation of new acoustical ceilings in the girls locker room at Waukegan High School, Washington Campus, by Happ Builders at a cost of $27,750.

The Board of Education voted to approve the fourth finalized Statement of Work for mechanical improvements at multiple school locations. This fourth Statement of Work is 34% of the total gross maximum price, $10,757,815, which was approved at the June 22, 2021 Board meeting and includes mechanical work to be completed at John Lewis Middle School, Little Fort Elementary, Glenwood Elementary, Welcome Center, and Waukegan High School - Brookside Campus and Washington Campus.

The Board of Education voted to approve ERATE 2022 YR 24 Network Projects: Switches and Closet Cleanup at a cost of $80.870. The total includes: (23) Aruba 6300M switches and (28) Aruba Expansion Modules.  Total cost is $206,425.88.  District responsible to pay $42,776.05 New cable closet clean-up of MDF & IDF.  Total cost $253,960.  District responsible to pay $38,094.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of Jr. football equipment for the middle school teams from BSN Sports at a total cost of $74,449. The Athletics department has intentions of directly managing the Jr. Bulldogs program starting the 2022-2023 school year.  This equipment needs to be ordered at least six months in advance, in an attempt for it to be ready for students to come back in the Fall of 2022.  

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of wall pocket tables and benches from Lowery McDonnell located at 960 Lively Blvd Wood Dale, IL 60191 for six elementary schools: Carman-Buckner, Greenwood, Hyde Park, North, Oakdale, and Clark. The total for all six schools is $510,266.

The Board of Education voted to approve the amendments to Board Policy 6010, Attendance.

The Board of Education voted to approve the amendment of the FY 2022 Board Resolution for Annual Wavier of Facilities For Certain Non-profit Organizations, to include the Boys and Girls Club of Lake County.


Personnel Items

The Board of Education voted to approve the appointments and resignations of 21 employees. 

The Board of Education voted to approve a Settlement Agreement and Release - Smith v. Board of Education in the amount of $75,000.
