Waukegan Public Schools is changing the early release schedule for three elementary schools to accommodate transportation shortages. Whittier Elementary School, Greenwood Elementary School and Glen Flora Elementary school will generally observe an early release on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. On those dates, these schools will begin at 8:30 a.m. and dismiss at 1:03 p.m.

All other schools will maintain their current early release/ late start schedule. Professional learning days will occur once a month at each middle school, and four elementary schools, as well as twice a month at the high school, the EPIC PreK site, and at 11 elementary schools. During these days schools will either begin later, or end earlier than usual.

On early release/late start days during the first semester, AM session PreK classes will meet at their normally scheduled time, and there will be a non attendance day for the PM session. This will flip second semester, where the A.M session will have a no attendance day and the PM session will follow its normal schedule during these modified bell schedule days.

These days will allow for additional professional development opportunities for staff members. Frequent professional development is needed to provide opportunities for staff and learn best practices for instructional improvement and student learning.

Parents with questions about schedules are asked to contact their child’s school. See schedule below.
