Join Us in Planting a Greener FutureWe are excited to share a groundbreaking initiative from the Waukegan High School Environmental Club, in collaboration with Tree-Plenish, aimed at fostering a more sustainable future for our community. We are empowering students to create a more sustainable and equitable future through community tree planting.

The importance of trees extends to their role in environmental sustainability, absorbing carbon dioxide, and releasing oxygen during photosynthesis. Trees contribute significantly to improved air quality, providing shade that reduces energy consumption and supporting biodiversity. In Waukegan, trees positively impact the community, enhancing the climate, and contributing to an aesthetically pleasing environment.

Explore the Colorado Blue Spruce, Eastern Redbud, and River Birch, learning more about their unique contributions. Our bare-root saplings typically bloom 4-6 weeks after planting, promising a vibrant and sustainable addition to our environment.

Our Goals:
Plant 130 saplings
Replace 156 tons of carbon

Order a sapling online for $5. Contribute by ordering a sapling for pickup on April 20, 2024.
Sponsorship Opportunities: Support us directly and have your name or company featured at the event.

Looking ahead, the upcoming Landscape and Tree Preservation Ordinance in Waukegan reflects the city's dedication to environmental conservation. This ordinance is expected to address the preservation of existing trees during development projects, introduce regulations for responsible tree removal practices, and promote sustainable landscaping. The community's active participation in the tree planting initiative aligns with Waukegan's broader efforts to create a more sustainable and resilient environment. Together, these initiatives aim to foster a positive impact on Waukegan's landscape and contribute to the ongoing environmental well-being of the city.
